Dynamic Measurements LOGO

   Dynamic Measurements, Inc.

MATLAB® based Data Acquisition Software for VXI Hardware

Acq_Mat1432  has the following Time Measurements capabilities:

  • N Channels, limited only by VXI hardware configuration.

  • Choose the Number of Active Channels from 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 ... to N Channels in even numbers.

  • Import Excel files with channel parameters like EU sensitivity, EU,  ID #, Transducer Model Number and Serial Number.

  • >2 MSamples /Sec simultaneous, contiguous Real Time to Host Disk Files (See table below)

  • Throughput to Host RAM somewhat faster than Host Disk, limited by RAM size.

  • Perform Throughput to the VT2216 SCSI Module at  > 5 MSamples /sec, sustained

  • Display 2, 4, 8 or 16 traces while measurement running.

  • During the measurement, Display Time data only or choose either Time + Linear Spectra or Time + Averaged Spectra.

  • Use VT1432, VT1435 or VT1436 at up to 102.4k Samples /Sec /Channel.

  • Use VT1433 at up to 196kSamples /Sec /Channel.

  • Auto Range: UP Range only or UP & Down Range in Time Measurement.

  • Block or Continuous Mode acquisition.

  • Block Sizes: 64 to 8192.

  • Frequency Spans: All those supported by VT1432/VT1433/VT1434/VT1436

  • Save all scans of all channels or just the last scan.

  • Choose Auto Save Data with incrementing File Name.

  • Also choose SDF format as additional data format type

  • Also saved with the data are any overloads that occurred on any channel during any scan.

  • All data attributes are saved with the data, I.E. Sensitivity, Eng. Units, Range, Coupling, ID, etc

Acq_Mat1432 - Throughput to Host Disk

General Summary:

For Aggregate Sample Rates of 819,200 Samples/Sec (or Lower) and a BlockSize of 8192 Throughput to Host Disk will be limited only by the size of the Host Disk

Note: These benchmarks are Host / Disk dependent !   Windows 7 (32 bit or 64 bit) with faster disks shows improved performance.

Benchmark Host:

3GHz Pentium4, 2 GB RAM (PC3200), SATA 120GB 7200 RPM Disc Drive 800 MHz FrontSide Bus, WinXP Pro SP1, No Data Display, No Overloads, Periodic Log Swept Sine, Source - On

Update Note:

With Windows Vista(32 bit), Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, SATA 10,000  RPM Drive, the performance is approximately 25% better using the 8192 Blocksize and falls below the following benchmarks for smaller Blocksizes. Also note the current disk drives are more than an order of magnitude larger than the above benchmark.

General Notes:

 *   NOTE:   Each Sample is 16 bits (or 2 Bytes / Sample from a H/W perspective)

**   NOTE:   MATLAB Data  Format is " Floating Point Double" (or 8 Bytes per Sample)

NOTE:   Disk Limit = Contiguous Data Samples limited only by the size of available Host Disk Space
